Shady Origins of the LOLcat (controversial content warning)

Update: Listed as "controversial" because I wouldn't want to unexpectedly read an article about child porn, and because so many people would disagree with me but it's probably due to the fact that they're in on it, they wouldn't know otherwise. As always, any and all opinions and questions are welcome. I have known of these facts for over two years and watched Anonymous take over the internet afterwards in repulsion. This is a small portion of their "secret knowledge", now unveiled to the unaware. Note that I was once Anon for the "funny pictures" (not knowing the background, just like everybody besides the "Internet Elite", a kingdom of rats if there ever was one) and normal porn, it was actually a pretty "progressive" environment for internet humor (for my age at the time at least) when it became known underground until it became popular (just like everything) and all your average freaky pedophiles and egomaniacs showed up and ruined the place and took it for their own, running it into the ground. It's actually quite a complex history but I've included bits that you probably won't see anywhere else.

Unless you've been staring at a wall for entertainment for the past 2 years, you know what a lolcat is. Here is how that whole thing started: When deranged people trading child porn on internet message boards "joke" with each other, they will post a link saying it's "Kiddie Pr0n". Inside the link would actually be a picture of a "kitty" and a funny caption. The sick kicker is that this image often contained a hidden .zip file with the real pictures inside of it. Think about this the next time you see one of these pictures. Pretty disgusting.

Origin of the Rick Roll: When these internet child porn traders were suspicious of being found out, they would post a fake link to child porn (often abbreviated CP) which led to an image of a duck with wheels, called a "Duck Roll", meaning "duck and roll" because you're about to get your door kicked in. The Rick Roll was where the image of the duck was replaced with a video of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up". The whole CP thing and the Duck Roll was originally a joke on certain forums to weed out perverted weirdos, but there was/is a shady underground where people actually were trading these pictures.

Origin of Anonymous (of internet fame, not the poet/writer): What better way to fool yourself into thinking your IP can't be traced than to use different proxies and post porn under "Anonymous"? It has been over a year since the "glory days" of 4chan and Anonymous. Observing the way that they work as a hive mind, I was given an opportunity to view evil "anonymously". I watched how younger generations caught on and began their addiction to child pornography and other sick, strange fetishes. I spoke out against them and their operation on a couple of message boards but was always ridiculed. It reminded me of the story in Chuck Palahniuk's Haunted where the life-size models of children are passed around for sex in the Police Department and the main character is the only person there who sees something very, very wrong with it. Anonymous works by alienation and deception and hive mind memes.

Interesting stuff. I went to 4chan once, looked like a lot of nerds trading hentai pr0n of underage school girls. Apparently it's worse than that! Is "do a barrel roll" related to the duck roll? I know it's from Starfox (?) that SNES game.
