This is a pretty interesting collection of pictures of New York City from 1885-1970 (notice the website's symbol is that of a rising sun). I didn't know that in the '30s the Statue of Liberty was surrounded by five pointed stars, crescents and templar crosses on the ground around it that were only visible from very high up.
