I incorrectly consumed of Salvia Divinorum during my recent stay in Atlanta. I say "incorrectly" because there is a method you are supposed to follow: Pack it in a bong, then use a torch lighter and take the biggest hit you can. Here is how I did it:
Sometime around April 2008, I was curious as to what I was going to do with a large quantity of Salvia Divinorum I was given to by a friend who said he wanted nothing to do with it. One night, said friend gave me 2 beers and dropped me off at my apartment near Little 5 points. I drank the beers, not noticing on the bag of legal Salvia "Do not consume alcohol before smoking". My roommates had just been talking with me about problems in life (the roommate who had let me stay there for $200 a month and I had talked about NWO, conspiracies, Freemasons, all that) and, acting spontaneously, I went out on the balcony (interacting with Nature may have been important in its effectiveness) with my bowl packed full of Salvia, and took a huge hit with a regular lighter. Yeah, yeah, "you're doing it wrong!" I had tried it a few times before, but nothing had happened. But this time, WOW. Within seconds of taking the hit, in the middle of my second hit, I felt it. Something weird, something liquid and mercurial was interacting with me. I ran back into the apartment, nearly busting my seams with laughter. I attempted to explain to my roommate what was happening, failing miserably. I just said "I smoked salvia and it worked" as quick as I could, before any more giggles could escape. This was what I wanted Mushrooms to be. Everything around me came alive, dancing and laughing with me. My 3 roommates and I went out on the balcony-stairway and they were trying to smoke the salvia, to no avail. All the problems they had just told me, and I was now laughing in their face. Of course this dampened my trip, but I was already completely insane with joy that I shrugged it off. Every cell in my body was alive and talking to me. Once back inside, one of my roommates, infamous for calling himself a "Psychic Warrior" read my mind: He said "Raising energy can be a real rush" or something to that effect. I had been practicing doing just that for a few months until that point. I shrugged it off, as this sort of thing was normal in my new state. I can't describe the feeling, it was exactly the same as being conscious in a dream. Timeless, yet full of motion and activity and joy. It was as if synchronicity itself had found me and said "here you go, have fun". For about 15 minutes of Earth time I was experiencing something beyond "highs" and "plateaus", beyond "transcendence" and all of that... Complete integration with both Everything and Nothing. My roommates didn't appear as cartoon characters, but as God acting through various forms. Yet at the moment I was something completely different from them and completely alien to myself. We ended up watching funny videos on the internet (probably the only way beside playing music together that we could relate... no offense to them at all, I'm a total weirdo) and I couldn't stop myself from laughing or moving around, very different from my former self. It was FUN. It was amazing, it was cosmic and ethereal, it was everything I was looking for. This was late at night, around 1 in the morning, and I was still feeling the effects as I drifted off to sleep. I don't remember what I dreamed, which usually means I was off somewhere talking to aliens or something. The next day just felt amazing, and it was basically a re-tread of my first day being back in atlanta: Being picked up by the same two friends (one of which gave me the Salvia), going to the same Wendy's, going back to one friend's house to play video games and smoke pot. Then again, that was basically every day that I was in Atlanta, before I had a job at least. The friend which gave me the salvia had smoked it with some pretty bad results, which are sync-tastic and strange: He saw yellow pillars emerging from the ground blocking his way, sensed himself out of his body, and was in an Alien Game Show reality. I experienced none of that, but he actually smoked it correctly so maybe that's why. Either way, tons of fun, Salvia is called the 2012 drug for good reason.
