Forestry officials in the city of Changji in the vast Xinjiang region began distributing the pellets last May to curb the exploding gerbil population, Xinhua news agency said.
Exploding gerbils, eh?
In what way is this different from the Human version of "the pill" being used for population control? We are like a plague of pests to our "immaculate" masters...

Gerbil.

Girl cut with razor by boys who took cell phone (this one gets a big WTF out of me...)
MANATEE COUNTY – A girl who lost her cell phone while walking later discovered two boys had it, and when she asked for it back, one boy cut her repeatedly with a small razor, the Manatee Sheriff’s Office said.
The girl had just taken a walk and returned to her home around 4 p.m. Monday when she realized she lost her cell phone.
She retraced her steps back to the 6200 block of Rosefinch Court in Bradenton and saw two boys with the phone, the report said.
The boys, who were about 12 to 14 years old, appeared to have been playing a “Star Wars” game because they wore goggles and latex gloves and were swinging plastic or rubber bats, the girl told deputies.
A struggle over the phone ensued, and one boy approached her from behind and slashed at her shoulder multiple times with a weapon the girl described as a pencil with a razor attached.
The girl let go of the phone, and while she struck the boy cutting her, the other boy swung a bat against her stomach, the report said.
The boys then threw the phone into a nearby wooded area and fled.
The girl sustained a bruise on her stomach and “superficial” cuts that bled profusely, the report said.
