123456789 Day: Big moment comes at 12:34:56 on 7/08/09

"For the digitally inclined, Wednesday marks a cool spot in sequential history. At exactly 12:34:56, the time and date will be 12:34:56 7/08/09. That only happens once -- or twice -- every 100 years, so for some, it's worth celebrating.

Plenty on Facebook and Twitter are spreading reminders or cluing others in. Rainn Wilson, the actor who plays Dwight on "The Office," tweeted about it, and on Facebook, pages popped up commemorating the date. Jon Everett, a 23-year-old University of Texas at Austin employee, created a Facebook page about the date with more than 600 Facebook users R.S.V.P.-ing yes to his "two-second celebration."

But there's always a spoilsport.

Many point out the time comes twice today, in the a.m. and in the p.m. (though, if you're on military time, 12:34 a.m. would be 00:34 a.m.). Nitpickers say the actual date is 7/08/2009, so the true 7/08/09 was 2,000 years ago. Others note serial dates aren't all that unusual (1/02/03 4:56, and 1:23:45 last year on 6/07/08)."

It's a holiday for people enjoy sequential numbers in dates.
