Kanye West is quite the attention whore. It's obvious that the whole ordeal with Kanye West and Taylor Swift was a "deflowering of the virgin" ritual (she was in a white dress before it happened and a red one after), and I think it had a huge impact on the mass subconscious. Even the president is aware of it.
And now for something completely different:
(forgot where I found this, sorry) I can't imagine that's very pleasurable. Different strokes for different folks I suppose. The turtle is associated with Hermes, so that is probably Hermes in the statue. This page says it's in Worchester, Massachussetts. Another interpretation would be a man-god fucking the North American continent, in that it is known by indigenous cultures as "the great turtle" or something to that effect.

It's funny, at first glance, I thought that was Pan riding the turtle, which I guess would make sense if that's really who it was supposed to be...

Hmm, didn't know Pan rode turtles... Maybe the statue builders read it wrong?
Even then, it's pretty interesting we've got statues of Pan sitting around the country...

I don't think Pan does ride turtles normally, but from your connection of the turtle being Hermes, it's a little creepy seeing what looked like Pan being rather 'forceful' (a 'clean' interpretation) with Hermes...
Did you see my post over at "the order" on that ritual. Deflowering virgin hu, seems to makes sense. I had posted pics that night and I also noticed all the red dresses worn by a bunch of the "main" females involved.
I didn't watch the awards cause to be honest I am not to much for pop culture, I am more in tune with "the underground" shit.
Anyways I was looking at some pics and noticed a lot of silver dresses at the beginning of the awards but didn't add that to my post.
PS everyone wants to ride a turtle, come on now! Looks like a sea turtle cause of the fins so maybe it's not such a slow ride, lol.
Maybe this is a genesis statue and we're all half-sea turtle half-god
