Bachmann vs. Obama

Dan Savage: Bachmann and Beck actively trying to get Obama killed

Author and columnist Dan Savage believes that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is "a big problem for the Republican Party."

"They began 20-30 years ago pandering to the religious right," Savage told MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann on Tuesday. "And the religious right realized that it could just run its own candidates, elect its own people, and put the nuts in charge, and that’s what they’ve done. Michele Bachmann is a religious extremist and a nut."

Bachmann told a cheering audience on Monday that to stop health care reform, "What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass."

Be sure to watch the video in the link. I've never heard of Michele Bachmann before, but she seems like she has an agenda of sorts, talking about making a covenant and being blood brothers. When people talk about stuff like that it's the equivalent of them screaming "Jihad!". In the clip they bring up the whole "birther" group (which I think was entirely fabricated) as being related to this health care reform, and they pretty much speculate that Bachmann wants to kill Obama. All of this is sensationalism, but there's a little "breaking down the 4th wall" when the guest starts talking about how the media sets up the birther stories to create controversy. Strange. I guess they're just open about it now.
